Toddler Storytime

My toddler storytime is composed of two parts. A 30 minute section of songs and books followed by a hands-on craft.

I use the same opening and closing songs for all three of my storytimes.


Opening song: (Tune: The Farmer in the Dell")
                         We tap hola like this
                         We tap hola like this
                          Hi-ho cherry
                          We tap hola like this

                          Continue with other verses:
                          We drop hola like this...
                          We circle hola like this...
                          We spin hola like this...
                          We toss hola like this...

Introduce theme

1 book

2-3 songs that relate to theme

1 Spanish children's song such as "Los Pollitos Dicen Pio Pio Pio" or  "Un Elefante Se Balanceaba"

Dance around the room

1 book

2-3 more songs

Goodbye song: (Tune: The Farmer in the Dell")

                          We tap adios like this
                          We tap adios like this
                          Hi-ho cherry
                          We tap adios like this

Introduce and model craft

Children and parents work together on the craft.
