Story: "All the Families" by Margaret Wise Brown

Shaker song:

“With My Family”
(Tune: “The Muffin Man”)

Tell me what you like to do
Like to do, like to do.
Tell me what you like to do
With your family.

( *) likes to (go swimming, go the park, etc.**)
Go swimming, go swimming.
(*) likes to go swimming
With her family.
* insert child’s name
** insert chosen activity

( *) likes to (read a book**)
Read stories, read stories.
(*) likes to read stories
With her family.
* insert child’s name
** insert chosen activity

(We continued until each child had a turn to tell me something he or she likes to do with his/her family, and we sang a verse about each child. For the youngest children, the parent provided the information.)

Action Song:

“Daddy Finger”

Daddy finger, daddy finger where are you?
Here I am, here I am, how do you do?

Mommy finger, mommy finger, where are you?
Here I am, here I am, how do you do?

Brother finger, brother finger, where are you?
Here I am, here I am, how do you do?

Sister finger…

Baby finger…

Loves me too; loves me too.
