Toddler and Preschool Transportation Crafts

1.  Paper Towel Tube Car

 





Materials:

1. 4 bottle caps
2. Paper towel tube cut to size desired
3. Cardstock for steering wheel
4. X-acto knife
5. Permanent markers
6. Scissors
7. Glue gun
8. Paint in various colors
9. Brushes

Instructions:
1. Cut opening with X-acto knife for seat.
2. Paint tube desired color.
3. Cut out small circle for steering wheel. Draw upside Y on circle to look like a steering wheel. Trace the outside of the circle.
4. Glue to the front of the opening.
5. Decorate four bottle caps as desired to make them look like wheels.
6. Glue 2 to each side of tube.
7. Using permanent markers, add any further decorations that are desired.




2.  Paper Plate and Tissue Paper Car

Materials:

1. Half of a paper plate
2. White construction paper/white computer paper (for windows)
3. Black construction paper (for wheels)
4. Tissue paper in desired color 
5. Tiny circles for lights (https://www.onlinelabels.com/templates/ol32-template-pdf.htm)
6. Template for 2 inch circles for wheels (https://patternuniverse.com/download/2-inch-circle-pattern/)
7. 6 inch template (https://patternuniverse.com/download/6-inch-circle-pattern/)
7. Red and yellow markers
8. Glue
9. Scissors

Instructions:
1. Cut paper plate in half.
2. Cover one half with small pieces of tissue paper in desired color.
3. Cut out two tiny circles for lights. Color one red and one yellow.
4. Glue the yellow one at the front, and the red one at the back.
5. Print out the 2 inch template. Use one circle template to trace the shape  two times onto the black construction paper. 
6. Cut out the wheels and glue them on.
7. For the windows, print out a 6 inch circle template, and then cut off 2/3rds of it. The remaining 1/3rd cut in half to make two windows.
8. Glue on the windows.



3. Rocking Paper Plate Boat Craft

Materials:
1. Paper plate folded in half
2. Paint or markers
3. Brushes
4. Straw or craft stick (I used a straw)
5. Scissors
6. Glue gun
7. Construction paper for sail

Note: I used the glue gun to glue the middle of the two paper plates together so that the boat will rock and stay upright.
