Toddler and Preschool Rain Crafts

1. Rainy Day Window Art  (both toddler and preschool)

Materials:
1. Blue powder paint diluted or blue liquid watercolor paint (I used blue diluted powder paint because it is what I had on hand)
2. Cookie tray
3. White paper
4. Sponge brush
5. Black construction paper for window frame cut into strips
6. Paper cutter (optional)





Instructions:
1. Cut black construction paper into vertical and horizontal strips.
2. Paint on back of cookie tray until covered
3. Press white paper on to back of tray to transfer the paint pattern
4. Glue black construction paper strips across paper to form a lowercase t.
5. Glue black construction paper strips on all borders of paper.




2. Raindrops Suncatchers (Melted Crayon Rain Art)    (preschool)

Materials:
1. Wax paper
2. Crayon sharpeners
3. Iron
4. Scissors
5. White cardstock for cloud
6. Blue yarn
7. Gray marker
8. Blue crayons in a variety of shades
9. Hole punch

Instructions:
1. Sharpen blue crayons to collect a pile of shavings on the wax paper
2. Spread out the shavings.
3. Place another sheet of wax paper on top of the shavings.
4. Iron the wax paper on the lowest setting until the shavings are melted to the wax paper.
5. Cut the wax paper into raindrop shapes.
6. Using a hole punch, make a hole in each raindrop towards the top of the raindrop.
7. Color the cloud gray, and then cut it out.
8. Make one hole across the bottom of the cloud for each raindrop.
9. Cut three or four lengths of yarn, one for each raindrop.
10. Tie one end of each piece of yarn to one of the raindrops.
11. Tie the other end of each piece  of yarn to one of holes in the cloud.





3. Tape Resist Rain Art

3. Pipettes
4. White copy paper or cardstock
5. Image of child with umbrella (either from source or find one online)

4.   Rain Cloud Drip Art

Materials:
1. Blue powder paint with water or liquid watercolors
2. Pipettes
3. Cotton balls
4. Gray marker
5. White paper
6. Tray to hold paper
7. Glue
8. Books to prop up tray

5. Toothbrush Splattered Rain Art

Materials:
1. Blue paint watered down slightly
2. Black paint
3. White paint
4. Shaving cream
5. Toothbrush
6. White paper
7. Craft stick (optional)
8. Containers for paint
9. Glue

Instructions:
1. Water down blue paint slighty
2. Dip the toothbrush in the blue paint. Either hit the bristles against the paper, or use the craft stick to shake off paint onto the paper.
3. Cover the paper with drops or with the bristle marks.
4. Make gray puffy paint by combining a small amount of black and white paint to make gray paint. Then mix an equal amount of glue and shaving cream together. Add a little bit of paint to this mixture.
5. Paint the clouds.
