St. Patrick's Day Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers

1. Marble Painted Shamrocks  (both toddler and preschool)



Materials:
3. Computer paper boxes or other large box with lid
4. Marbles
5. White cardstock
6. Green paint 
7. Black paint*
8. White paint

Note*: In advance, use the black and white paint to make two other shades of green.

2. Paper Plate Leprechaun Craft  (preschool)

Materials:
1. 6 inch paper plates
2. Green crayons or paint
3. Orange and red crayons
4. Orange paint
5. Googly eyes
6. Hat template (optional*)
7. Glue
8. Scissors 

Note: Instead of using the hat template, you can simply cut a hat out of green construction paper. You would then cut a strip out of black construction paper to use as the band. I provided a template for the children to make the craft easier.

If desired, you can cut slits in the beard.




3. Glitter Shamrock Sun Catchers

Materials:
3. Wax paper
4. Computer paper to print templates on
5. Glitter
6. Glue
7. Marker or pen


Instructions:
Print off shamrock or four leaf clover template, and cut it out. Trace it onto the wax paper usin a marker or pen. Cover the inside of the shape with glue. Then cover the glue with glitter. Let dry. Then cut around the shape to remove the extra wax paper. I would leave the wax paper on underneath the clover for added durability.


4. Torn Paper Mosaic Shamrock Craft    (preschool)





Materials:
3. Various shades of green construction paper
4. Glue
5. Scissors
6. White cardstock

Instructions:
Run templates on the white cardstock. Select desired template. Tear small pieces of three of four different shades of green paper. Cover the clover or shamrock with these pieces. The pieces can overlap.





5. St. Patrick's Day Watercolor Shamrocks  (toddler and preschool)




Materials:
1. Coffee filters
2. Pipettes 
4. Blue and yellow liquid watercolors OR yellow and blue food coloring mixed with a small amount of water
5. Containers for colors

Preparation in advance:
Print off shamrock template. Trace onto coffee filters, and then cut out.

6. Puffy Paint Shamrock Craft            (toddler and preschool)

Materials:
1. White cardstock
2. Shaving cream
3. White liquid glue
4. Brushes
5. Bowls
6. Shamrock template
8. Green food coloring

Instructions:

Prepare puffy paint in advance by mixing equal amounts of glue and shaving cream. Then add green food coloring to the mixer. Print off desired template, and run a copy on white cardstock. Paint shamrock or clover with puffy paint.





7.  Crayon Resist Shamrock Art               (preschool)

Materials:
1. Watercolor paint sets
2. White crayons
3. White cardstock
4. Paint brushes
5. Shamrock template
6. Four leaf clover template
7. Scissors


Instructions: 
1. Cut out desired template. 
2. Trace around it on the white cardstock. 
3. Use the white crayon to decorate the inside of the shamrock/clover with curly q's, dots, zigzag lines, etc. 
4. If desired, draw rays around the shamrock/clover.
5. Cover the entire page with watercolor paint.
