Easter and Rabbit Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers

1. Rabbit Easter Basket Out of Two Plates                     (toddler and preschool)

Materials:
1. Three 9 inch paper plates
2. Markers
3. Stapler
4. Googly eyes
5. Pink construction paper (optional)
6. Hole punch
7.  Yarn
8. Glue stick

Instructions:
1. Cut a rabbit ear shape away from one paper plate.
2. Staple this paper plate to the back of another paper plate.
3. Cut an ear shape away from a third paper plate.
4. Staple the two ears to the back of the plate that is complete
5. Color the inside of the ears pink.
6. Glue on two googly eyes.
7. Draw a pink nose, or cut out and glue a triangle shape from a piece of pink construction paper.
8. Draw a mouth and whiskers.
9. Use a hole punch to make a hole a little below the ears on each side of the circle.
10. Cut a length of yarn. Tie each end to one of the holes.




2. Easter basket out of a paper plate           (toddler and preschool)

Material:
1. Two 9 inch paper plates
2. Markers or paint and brushes
3. Ruler
4. Pencil













Instructions:
1. Decorate plate either with markers or by painting it.
2. Use the ruler and pencil to draw a line down the middle of the circle.
3.Then turn the plate 90 degrees, and draw a line splitting the circle into two halves once more. You should now have a plus sigh splitting your plate into four equal parts.
4. You now need to mark how far to cut on each section.
Use the ruler to measure 7.5 cm from the outside of the circle on one of the four radiuses. Mark this spot.
5. Repeat on the three other radiuses.
6. Now overlap one section onto the next, and staple it to hold it in place. Repeat three more times.

3. One More Paper Plate Basket                        (toddler and preschool)


Materials:
1. 1 nine inch paper plate
2. Ribbon
3. Stapler/glue gun
4. Scissors
5. Markers/paint
6. Pom poms, buttons. etc.











Instructions:
1. Cut paper plate in half.
2. Place the two halves together with the curved side of one plate facing the curved side of the other.
3. Cut a length of ribbon. Stick each end of the ribbon inside the space between the two plates near the edges of the plate.
4. Staple or glue (with a glue gun) the two halves of the plate together along the rim.
5. Decorate both sides of the basket as desired.






4. Paper Towel Tube Basket                     (toddler and preschool)

Materials:
1. Paper towel tubes
2. Construction paper in variety of colors
3. Paint in variety of colors (or markers)
4. Brushes
5. Paper plates for paint
6. Pom poms (optional) 
7. Sequins (optional)


Notes:
Let children color and decorate tube as desired. My example is only 2/3rds of a paper towel tube, but the children used an entire paper towel tube. I put out my paper cutter to let each parent cut a strip for the handle in whatever color the child desired.








5. Easter basket from an empty can             (toddler and preschool)  

Materials:

1. Empty food can that is extra tall (The example is from a cornstarch container.)      
2. Construction paper
3. Sequins and buttons
4. Pom poms
5. Glue gun
6. Pipe cleaners in a variety of colors
7. Tape









Instructions:
1. Clean out can.
2. Remove food label
3. Wrap can in desired construction paper color. Cut away the excess length. Secure to can using either tape or glue.
4. Decorate construction paper with pom poms, buttons, sequins, etc as desired.
5. Choose two colors of pipe cleaners. Wrap one around the other all along the length of it. 
6. Glue one end of the pipe cleaner under the rim of the can using the glue gun. 
7. Glue the other end of the pipe cleaner directly across from where you glued the first end.





6. Paper Towel Tube Rabbit              (preschool)


Materials:
1. Paper towel tube cut to desired size
2. Paint in various colors
3. Construction paper in various colors
4. Brushes
5. Paper plates
6. Googly eyes
7. Black marker
8. Glue stick
9. Scissors
10. Cotton ball
11. Liquid glue


Instructions:
1. Cut paper towel tube to desired size.
2. Either paint the tube desired color, or wrap it with the desired shade of construction paper.
3. Cut two ears a similar color. If desired, you can add white paint to the middle of the ears.
4. Glue the ears to the inside front part of the tube.
5. Glue on googly eyes.
6. Cut a small triangle out of construction paper for the nose.
7. Add two white spots for cheeks using white paint.
8. Draw a mouth and whiskers.
9. Glue a cotton tail towards the bottom of the back.
